Big emotions are a normal part of relationships, but when you’re young, they can feel overwhelming and difficult to navigate.
The Line launched its latest campaign End of the World, designed to support young people to understand and navigate big emotions such as jealousy, anger and fear of rejection, so they can build healthier, more respectful relationships.
Advertising will run between 14 October 2026 and 31 January 2027 across TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Reddit, Twitch, Rifle, out-of-home posters, Spotify, Netflix and Disney+.
In April 2026, Our Watch commissioned benchmark research with 1,000 Australians aged 14 to 21 to better understand young people’s attitudes, knowledge and confidence when navigating emotions in relationships.
The research found that while most young people recognise the importance of acknowledging and respectfully communicating feelings such as jealousy, anger and fear of rejection, confidence is more mixed when it comes to putting these skills into practice.
Key findings
- 82% agreed that healthy relationships involve recognising emotions and communicating them respectfully.
- 30% were not confident they could distinguish between healthy and unhealthy emotional responses.
- 69% agreed that when they feel anger in a relationship, it is important to tell the other person straight away what caused it, rather than pausing and regulating their emotions first.
- 53% felt confident talking about their feelings and recognising how their own thoughts and actions may have contributed to them.
The findings suggest that while many young people understand what healthy emotional responses look like, fewer feel confident navigating anger, jealousy and fear of rejection in their own relationships. Strengthening emotional awareness, self-regulation, respectful communication and empathy, can help young people build confidence and develop healthy, respectful relationships.
